Automated Airworthiness Certification (AWC)

Mandatory use of AWC is required for Standard Airworthiness Certificates and Special Airworthiness Certificates including Special Flight Permits. The applicant must set up an account in AWC. The aircraft must have a valid U.S. registration to input the data in AWC. AWC is not used for an Export Certificate of Airworthiness.

Geographic Expansion

FAA DAR-Ts are either Domestic or International.

Domestic DAR-Ts are assigned to and managed by their local Flight Standards District Office (FSDO).
Domestic DAR-Ts provide services in the United States and US territories.
International DAR-Ts provide services in the service areas of the 4 FAA International Field Offices (IFO).
Each international DAR-T is assigned to and managed by an IFO.• (Dallas/Ft. Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York).
If a DAR-T wants to work outside their normal geographic boundaries he or she must request geographic expansion.

FAA Order 8000.95B states in part:
“It is the FAA’s intention that DAR-Ts perform their authorized functions` within their normal geographic boundaries”.
“For International activity, the use of international designees takes precedence over domestic designees requesting expansion work. The IFO makes the final determination to approve or deny the activity”.

Summary: A domestic DAR-T should be contracted for domestic certification projects and an international DAR-T should be contracted for international certification projects.
